Inspired by Joseph Kosuth's conceptual artwork One Chair and Three Chairs.
The main body of the work is a character-based LCD screen that serves as a
“library of definitions” that continuously displays multiple definitions of
chairs and occasionally translates the definitions into binary characters. The viewer cannot“use” the chair, but can only approach its digital existence through a multilayered visual construction. This is an installation about the tension between
perception, language, image and simulation, and conceptualism and conceptual art in the digital age.
In another iteration of this project, the definition of a chair is deconstructed into the chair-shaped artwork itself, a low-poly 3D model of a chair displayed on screen, and a string of text reading the dictionary definition of a chair.
受到约瑟夫·科苏斯的观念艺术《一个椅子和三个椅子》启发。作品的主体为一个基于字符的液晶显示屏作为"定义数据库"，持续展示椅子的多重定义，并偶尔将定义转化为二进制字符。观者无法"使用"椅子，只能通过多层视觉构造接近其数字存在。这件装置探讨了感知、语言、图像与模拟之间的张力关系以及观念和观念艺术在数字时代的延伸。
